Asia is now home to the most mid-income class consumers in the world. By 2022 another 50 million new
consumers will join the ranks of the middle class in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and
Vietnam further contributing to the region’s $300 billion middle-class disposable income. The middle
class will expand to include 350 million people and will continue its upward trajectory. The economies of
East Asia, (e.g. Japan, Korea, and Taiwan) have held mid-income status for years and continue to be
major buyers and makers of natural skincare/cosmetics.
